
On Saturday the Mitchell Concert Band travelled to Denver to perform at the Music in the Parks competition then spent the day at Elitch Gardens.
The band earned a second place trophy at the awards ceremony!

We will not know until tonight the exact matchups for tomorrow. The first game will start at 3:45 followed by the second at 4:30 pm. Tomorrow's matchups will be as follows:

Kate set a new Mitchell High School and Western Trails Conference pole vault record with a successful vault of 11'1"!
The previous record of 11' was set by Katie Schaneman in 2003.
Kate was also awarded the outstanding female athlete of the Western Trails Conference track meet!

MES - Week of April 14:
NSCAS (state testing) begins this week starting tomorrow. This involves all students in grades 3-6. Students will be tested in language arts/reading, math, & science (5th grade only). We ask the following of parents/guardians:
-Please get your child to school & on time.
-Please limit outside activities.
-Please confirm your child is prepared - rest, clear mind - when they come to school this week. Please set boundaries on bedtimes and screen times.
Again, grades 3-6 will begin testing tomorrow, Tuesday, April 15.

Mitchell High Schoolās 2nd Annual Pickleball Tournament is a success! 92 students showed up to the Spring Overtime to play Pickleball and Cornhole, have some pizza and eat some snacks. Great event, Great kids!

Mitchell FFA had a great week at state competition last week. Lots of the teams scored well and many of the members gained valuable experiences that will help them in competitions next year!
The Agriscience team placed 123rd with Jarin Houk and Cash Robbins tying for 491st , Lucas Esselstein placing 495th and Garrett Lebruska placing 507th . The Agronomy team placed 41st with Rylan Houk placing 71st and receiving a Red Ribbon, Jackson Jenkins placing 72nd and receiving a Red Ribbon, Justin Haskins placing 188th and Michael Suttles placing 236th . The Farm and Ag Business team place 36th with Justin
Haskins placing 48th and receiving a Blue Ribbon, Seth Jacobs and Jake Meyer placing 125th , and Zane Keller placing 203rd . The Floriculture team placed 12th and received a Blue Ribbon. Audree Carlson placed 3rd and received a medal and Purple Ribbon, Reese Sauer placed 43rd and received a Blue Ribbon, Alissa Hodsden placed 96th and received a Red Ribbon and Ashton Keener placed 175th . Senior Livestock Judging placed 44th as a team with Sophia Pitts placing 42nd and receiving a Blue Ribbon, Kate Pieper placed 139th , Jake Meyer placed 188th , and Seth Jacobs placed 223rd . Meat Judging placed 21st as a team and received a Red Ribbon. Corbyn Zaruba placed 53rd and earned a Blue Ribbon, Thomas Esselstein placed 83rd and received a Red Ribbon, Hadleigh Bolzer placed 92nd and earned a Red Ribbon, and Mason Pitts placed 148th . Nursery and Landscape placed 34th as a team and earned a White Ribbon. Kaitlyn Keener placed 84th and earned a White Ribbon, Audree Carlson placed 110th , and Haylee Jacobs and Reese Sauer both placed 137th . In Cooperative Speaking Jonah Splichal placed 27th and earned a Bronze Medal. In Senior Public Speaking Landon Murphy placed 16th and earned a Silver Medal. In Agricultural Demonstration the team placed 16th and earned a Silver Plaque. Overall they did really well against some stiff competition. We also had 6 seniors earn their State Degrees: Jackson Jenkins, Alissa Hodsden, Kaitlyn Keener, Autumn Edwards, Josie Waite, and Jaelyn Yetter. It was a good year for Mitchell FFA.
